READY FOR THE BIG TIME A kitten exerts its diabolical cuteness at Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick.

The Maine Animal Coalition, or MAC, is hosting The Internet Cat Video Festival (curated by the Walker Art Center of Minneapolis) at the Portland High School auditorium (284 Cumberland Ave.) on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m.

Even occasional Facebookers will have seen felines jumping out of their skins at the mere sight of a cucumber on the floor, or confronting a mountain lion from behind a plate-glass door, but this collection of short films promises to amuse and astound even more. The showcase features approximately 100 videos, nominated by the public in seven ‘cat’-egories (Comedy, Drama, Animated, Musical, Action, Vintage and Documentary) and is curated by Will Braden of “Henri Le Chat Noir” fame. Braden was the recipient of the festival’s first “Golden Kitty” award. This year marks the festival’s fourth installment.

Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.maineanimalcoalition.org.

Proceeds will benefit the CLEO Fund for spaying and neutering Maine’s cats, so come out on a cold January day for a good cause, and enjoy!
