A brand of pet treats found at PetSmart is being recalled for possible mold contamination, according to Missing Found Animals of Old Orchard Beach.
“The product, 4oz bags of ‘Nutro Chewy Treats with Real Apples,’ should be returned immediately,” the group reported. “The affected bags have a PetSmart SKU of 5229600 and a Product UPC of 7910511344. The impacted lot codes begin with ‘4 50’, ‘5 02’, ‘5 03’, OR ‘5 05’ (regardless of best by date).”

According to The Bangor Daily News, “PetSmart issued this statement on their website: ‘Please stop feeding this product to your pet and bring any remaining Nutro 4 oz. Apple Chewy Treats affected by this recall to your nearest PetSmart for a full refund. PetSmart sells a wide variety of treats from many brands, and our associates can help you find the right item for you and your pet.’”

Last month, PetSmart publicized a voluntary recall for Blue Buffalo Wild Chew Cub Bones with “Best By” dates of Oct. 31, 2017 and Nov. 4, 2017. “These products are being recalled because they may be contaminated with Salmonella,” the company reported.
