The arrival of March brings us that much closer to the buds and blossoms of spring, but also takes Mercury into its first retrograde cycle of 2019. The planet of communication will station retrograde from March 5–28 in the sign of Pisces. This is a more emotional placement for Mercury retrograde, and can have us revisiting feelings and conversations of the past. We may also feel compelled to tie up loose ends in our creative projects. Another big shift occurs on March 6 when Uranus enters Taurus, where it will stay for the next seven years. It is now time to alter our relationships to material wealth and personal worth. The new moon in Pisces also occurs on March 6, which will be helpful for reflecting on what abundance looks like for you, rather than what society says it should be.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): You skate by virtually unnoticed this month, which feels a little thrilling. You can get away with something you wouldn’t normally dream of doing. Novelty and excitement is appealing right now, as Uranus in your sign squares Venus the first few days of March. You seek out fresh and new relationships, or else bring excitement into your existing ties. Being under the radar, incognito, provides you with the ability to see life from a new vantage point. This could potentially deepen your well of compassion, if you’re open to the experience.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Electric planet Uranus enters your sign on March 6, shaking up stagnancy in your life. Over the next few months, you may find yourself outgrowing old ways of thinking and wishing to alter how others view you. Your energy is still high this month, as Mars continues to transit your sign. Be sure to pace yourself and get rest on occasion, even if you feel you don’t need it. Your unshakeable drive is setting you up for many grand opportunities, but it’s important to balance yourself so you can recognize the success when it arrives.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Mercury retrograde in the sign of Pisces dredges up old feelings for a lot of us. As it squares your sign this month, you’ll prefer to keep things on an intellectual level and could feel resentful of those who expect emotional responses from you. While personal relationships may go on the back burner for now, you are set up to make major strides in the professional world over the first two weeks of the month. The moon enters your sign March 12, which is an ideal time to treat yourself to something you’ve been coveting.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): The impact of Mercury retrograde is mostly positive for you. You are likely to enjoy the slowing down of normally constant communication, and find your mind drifting off to days past. You are thoroughly nostalgic now, particularly during the new moon on March 6. In the second week of March, you incorporate the lessons of the past and develop a new plan for yourself. This new goal can uplift you and provide you with a contagious spirit of joy. If you are not there yet, be patient and loving with yourself, as you are for the others in your life.

LEO (July 23-Aug 22): There is a strong desire to prove yourself in your chosen field this month, as Uranus enters fellow fixed sign Taurus on March 6. While this can create some tension, it will reinforce your creativity and give you the drive to see something through to the end. During Mercury’s retrograde period, you may find that others understand you better than you expect them to. Let your guard down and allow friendships and connections to forge that might have once been missed opportunities. You can learn a lot from someone who seems to be your opposite.

VIRGO (Aug 23-Sep 22): Your ruling planet Mercury is in retrograde in your opposing sign, Pisces, which offers you both benefits and potential trouble spots. Impatience could arise, especially when trying to nail down specific dates or times with others who seem to have their heads in the clouds. As Uranus enters Taurus on March 6, you can easily shake yourself out of a rut. If you are contemplating a major change in residence or career, now is the time. Those who already took a risk recently could find themselves seeking out a new hobby or area of study.

LIBRA (Sep 23-Oct 22): Your typically balanced Libra mind needs some reassurance, as your sign forms an inconjunction to shaky Uranus in Taurus and uneasy Mercury retrograde in Pisces. You may desire deeper stability and more commitment than can be offered right now. Get in touch with your physicality to alleviate this sensation. Through exercise, spending time outdoors or with an animal friend, you can ground yourself and keep a spinning world from feeling too out of control. Revisit intense talks with others in a couple of weeks.

SCORPIO (Oct 23-Nov 21): Map out your course but hold out for action until after Mercury retrograde, at the end of this month. Mercury is currently in your sister water sign, Pisces, and can make for some murky seas. This is a good time for figuring out a detailed plan and working through all the possibilities and plot twists. The new moon on March 6 offers you a chance to see through illusion, understanding something on a deeper level than others around you might be able to. Share your knowledge only if you feel it can help them.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22-Dec 21): Too much socialization can seem like a walk in thick brambles this month. Mercury is squaring your sign in retrograde, which can cause cancellations, delays and missed signals for you, particularly in bigger groups of friends, or in the workplace. While plans could stall out, you get a boost of creativity and romance from Venus, sextiling your sign in Aquarius. Keep the mood high by spending time solo or in the company of a trusted companion. Your eye for beauty is heightened, and you can create works of art in whatever medium you fancy.

CAPRICORN (Dec 22-Jan 19): You barrel through Mercury retrograde like it’s barely on your register. This is not to say that you won’t encounter red tape, just that your energy reserves are equipped to deal with whatever comes your way. Both Saturn and Pluto in your sign sextile the Sun during the first half of this month, creating an aura of prestige around you. Around March 13, you attract in both admiration and envy, possibly even coming from the same place. Stay focused on what feels most important and don’t let the opinions of others hold too much sway.

AQUARIUS (Jan 20-Feb 18): Venus enters your sign on March 1, and immediately turns your focus to partnership. Be it an existing bond or something you haven’t yet considered, you will get much more accomplished alongside another. While the typical Aquarian enjoys shock value, this month you will find it simpler to ease others into new ideas gently and gradually. The Venus/Uranus square during the first week of March makes for some jumpiness, and can cause the whole house of cards to come tumbling down if you’re not careful. Be patient with those around you.

PISCES (Feb 19-March 20): You are caught in the crossfire of retrograde Mercury, transiting your sign beginning March 5. While this could bring up exaggerated feelings of frustration as you attempt to convey things to others, don’t forget that you have a definite advantage here. The new moon in Pisces on March 6 cleans house for you, and helps you to finally set aside an outdated belief about yourself and your capabilities. By getting clearer on what you want, the foggy feeling you’ve been living with begins to subside. Your voice is heard, even in the thick of retrograde season.
